They also contain information about fire statistics in AU Residence Halls and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Auburn; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

Job Description Summary

The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) in the College of Human Sciences at Auburn University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position as an assistant level Marriage and Family Therapy position in the fully COAMFTE accredited, terminal Master’s program. The position will begin August 16, 2018.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Successful candidates are expected to maintain a productive program of research in their area of focus. In addition, responsibilities include both undergraduate and graduate instruction and service assignments. The Marriage and Family Therapy position will have a focus on clinical interventions and processes in couple and family therapy contexts, but may also have a focus on clinical interventions and processes in couple and family therapy contexts, but also may have other substantive family- or therapy-focused interests.

DEPARTMENT: The Department includes 25 faculty members (17 full-time, tenure-track), 300 undergraduates, and 40 graduate students and offers undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degrees. It also administers the Center for Health Ecology and Equity Research; the Auburn University Early Learning Center; the Harris Early Learning Center in Birmingham, AL; and the Auburn University Marriage and Family Therapy Center which also houses the MS, Marriage and Family Therapy program. This program is a full-time cohort model that accepts 6 students each year. Candidates whose research program complements the mission(s) of one or more of these Centers are strongly encouraged to apply. The department also has a strong interest in hiring faculty who have demonstrated commitment to diversity through lived experience, teaching proficiencies, and/or research interests.

THE UNIVERSITY: Auburn University is a land-grant institution with a multicultural student enrollment of over 26,000. The University provides instruction in approximately 70 academic departments and maintains graduate research and public service programs. The University is located in the city of Auburn in east-central Alabama near several large metropolitan areas of Alabama and Georgia.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidates for the Marriage and Family Therapy position must possess a Ph.D. in MFT or HDFS (if the latter, the applicant must have the MS in MFT); AAMFT approved supervisor status or supervisor candidate status; and MFT licensure in Alabama or eligibility for licensure. In addition, successful candidates must be fluent in English, possess excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, and meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.

Desired Qualifications

Experience teaching core MFT courses, supervising clinical graduate students; and conducting MFT related research is desired.
